When people say ‘wedding of the year’ this is one of the weddings that I am sure automatically springs to mind for every guest who was at Manor Mews to witness Susie Richardson and Mark Vandenbergh tie the knot on Saturday 03rd October 2015!
Never in all the weddings here at UNV have we seen a couple so in love as Susie & Mark and didn’t it show in every element of the day. The preparations started in earnest on Friday morning, with the team here at UNV setting up The Great Barn first thing for Susie and Mark to arrive midday to put all their personal touches to the venue. They’d been counting down the days – and boy were they excited! Swaffham and Fakenham Florist also arrived on Friday to decorate the venue with their fantastic floral masterpieces! The Milk Churn’s that surrounded the registrars table, the beautiful centrepieces and Susie’s amazing bouquet, more fantastic work by the wonderful girls Megan, Michelle and their team at Swaffham and Fakenham Florist. The humungous letter ‘V’ completing the ceremony end of the venue ready for their nuptials.
Susie’s theme of vintage was elegantly and stylishly achieved, with vintage jars and antique vases adorning The Great Barn. Gin bottles doubling up as the table names and a selfie station ready for the evening. A big easel with the menu for the day on, a time line of photographs capturing Susie and Mark since the day they met and baskets full of necessities in the toilets – Susie really had thought of everything!
Saturday came around and it was time for the big day – Susie and her bridesmaids got ready in the lovely accommodation at Manor Mews, it was their home from home for the weekend. Mark and his best men also had another cottage on the complex and made their final preparations for this big day.
Guests started arriving at The Great Barn from one o’clock and were treated to brilliant acoustic music from Game Plan before the ceremony and again following the emotional ceremony.
Mark waited patiently at the altar accompanied by his best man Nick making him laugh to keep the nerves at bay. Two o’clock soon ticked by and Susie – looking absolutely stunning, in a beautiful and elegant strapless gown met Mark at the altar.
Following the ceremony guests flowed outside onto the patio to enjoy Prosecco and White Port as well as some delicious canapés;
• Pumpkin and Cheddar Cheese Filo Turn Overs
• Spiced Cajun Chicken with Sour Cream
• Deep Fried Salt Cod Croquettes and Saffron
Guests took their seats at four o’clock ready to enjoy the hilarious and tear jerking speeches and then starters were served at quarter to five. Guests enjoyed the menu of;
• Fruit Pig Co Rare Breed Pork – 8 Hour Sous Vide Cheek, Pan Roasted Loin and Soy Braised Pork Belly, Dauphinoise, Roasted Autumnal Roots, Soy Glaze and Jugs of Jus
• Tonka Bean Panna Cotta, Salted Caramel Popcorn, Popcorn Espuma and Chocolate Sorbet In between main course and dessert guests were surprised when signing waiters appeared and delighted the guest with a selection of songs.
Once the wedding breakfast was completed, Susie and Mark cut their cake provided by a talented friend and this was served in the evening buffet later that evening.
At seven thirty the extra evening guests arrived at The Great Barn to party the night away and shortly after this Captain Scarlet the brilliant band that Susie and Mark had chosen started the party. Cheese and Biscuits topped up their energy levels and by midnight everyone was still in high spirits and didn’t want the night to end. What a day!
The team at UNV had such a fantastic time during Susie and Mark’s big day – they were one of the happiest couples we’ve ever witnessed and we wish them all the best for the future. We now look forward to the wedding of Nick – Mark’s best man who is also getting married with us at Oxnead Hall – look out for their blog later on in 2017!
