Seeing as the weather right now feels little like summer – we thought we’d flash back to the final wedding of 2015 which was a special occasion, the nuptials of Veronica and Henry at The Great Barn at Manor Mews.
Saturday 19th December was the big day Veronica and Henry had been waiting for and it had rolled around in a flash from when they first visited Manor Mews and booked their wedding day with us.
A massive feature of Manor Mews is the wealth of onsite accommodation available, with the possibility to sleep 64 guests throughout their holiday cottage it can be the home from home for the weekend for the majority of your wedding guests. Veronica and Henry and their family and friends made full use of this, taking all of the accommodation to spread the celebrations beyond just one day.
With a winter wonderland theme The Great Barn was transformed on Friday with multiple Christmas trees adorned with fairy lights and one that formed the table plan, as well as hanging snowflakes and fairy lights in the marquee. Veronica and Henry had decided that they would love for people to be able to flow freely around The Great Barn whatever the weather and therefore had a marquee specially erected over the patio area outside the barn by Grice and Foster.
Large tall flowers adorned the centre of the tables on wooden slices, provided by Swaffham and Fakenham Florists and aided by Veronica’s nearest and dearest. Hurricane lanterns filled with alcoves and bay trees adorned the entrance to The Great Barn. A present table wasn’t required as presents were placed under the Christmas tree and small bottles of port as the favours provided the guests with a tipple to accompany their cheese and biscuits.
The wedding day arrived and it was time for all of the guests to be transported via coach to Norwich Cathedral where Veronica and Henry tied the knot. Following the beautiful ceremony it was time to head back to Manor Mews for Champagne, Mulled Wine and Wherry! Followed by delicious canapés of Slow Cooked Pork Cheeks with Apple, Tartlets of Onion Marmalade, Pine Nuts and Feta, Tiger Prawns in Sweet Chilli Sauce, Crispy Duck Spring Rolls and Pumpkin and Cheddar Cheese Filo Turnovers.
After a period of mingling, catching up and drinking it was time for all 150 guests to take their seats for the wedding breakfast, announced by Toastmaster Ali. The cake was cut and then slow roasted whole shoulders of Lamb were served on sharing platters in the middle of the tables, with Norfolk winter roots, wintergreens, Dauphinoise potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. With their wedding cake accompanied by berries and cream for dessert, followed by cheese and biscuits and the excellent wedding speeches at 7pm. After barrels and laughter it was swiftly time to party the night away – with the dance floor packed with guests dancing away to the brilliant Joe Ringer Band, Veronica and Henry took the dance floor at 8pm for their first official dance as Husband and Wife – cue the tears from members of their families.
Bacon Rolls and Wedges caused a stir in the hungry dancers late in the evening and at midnight it was time to say goodnight to the newlyweds after a fantastic day.
