Saturday 15th October was the eagerly awaited day for Lydia and James to get hitched at Oxnead Hall. Having booked just under a year before the date, they dived straight into the wedding planning and had thought of everything needed for a spectacular wedding day!
Lydia, James and their families descended on Oxnead on Friday to set up The Great Barn and The Church prior to checking into the onsite accommodation ready for their evening meal – catered by us.
The Barn was picture perfect with vintage tin pot arrangements by Swaffham and Fakenham Florists resting on top of log slices. Milk Churns were filled with stunning floral works of art, lined the entrance into Oxnead’s onsite church and the pew ends had dainty posies in jars delicately attached. Penny at The Little Lending Company once again used her fantastic calligraphy skills to produce chalkboard signs, including the wonderful order of the day. LLCO also created a styled sweet station and it looked delicious – the groomsmen couldn’t resist eating some before the big day! Festoon Lighting from LLCO combined with Light Up Letters from Marvellous Glow meant the Great Barn looked sensational when guests walked through the doors.
In a flash it was Saturday and Lydia and her bridesmaids were busy getting ready in The North Wing, whilst James and his groomsmen checked everything was ready to go. 1pm came and the emotional ceremony took place, the new Mr and Mrs Sleaford emerged from the church to rapturous applause and a humungous amount of confetti!
Arrival drinks and canapés took place at the Orangery allowing guests to explore the maze and water gardens in the autumnal sun and Lydia and James to sneak of for some spectacular photographs.
Dinner was then served and it was time for the nominated guests to don their chef hat and aprons ready to carve the roast beef, it certainty was a conversation starter. The evening came around so quickly and it was time to cut the delicious cake from Buns of Fun Bakery, Chocolate, Salted Caramel and Gingerbread layers were absolutely divine! Lydia also surprised James with a gigantic Pork Pie from Wilson’s Butchers as he originally wanted one as the wedding cake, he was delighted.
Hog Roast and Cheese and Biscuits fuelled the guests in the evening and soaked up all of the alcohol from the free bar including two barrels of ale which delighted the gents. UTC Events provided the music for the evening and they were fantastic, a pleasure to work with and sounded excellent – we highly recommend.
